Facilitating the acquisition of executive functioning skills by easing clients into an exploration of their learning style
"All too often, students are not adequately prepared to navigate a curriculum that assumes executive functioning skills have been acquired organically through natural development. When this assumption goes unchecked, it can lead to frustration and a disconnect between expectations and outcomes. Over time, students may rely on inconsistent and ineffective coping mechanisms to compensate for irregular study habits, leading to long-term difficulties with organization, planning, and time management. If these challenges persist into adulthood, they can result in low self-esteem, limited problem-solving abilities, and a lack of self-advocacy skills. Recognizing the interconnected nature of these struggles is crucial, and it is important to provide support for students as they cultivate these essential skills. It is imperative to support students and provide positive reinforcement as they practice these skills." ~ Maria Casey
